The spirits here need to "haunt" good children who have happy thoughts and kind hearts. The ghosts cannot hurt you or anyone in any way. But they gain from good intentions and positive actions, such as loving your family, helping others, or doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. These things generate a powerful energy that rewards your ghost, yourself, and everyone around you.
If you adopt a ghost, look for a number on the bottom of the token casket. The number corresponds to the spirits listed below.

1. Old Annie ThimbleAnnie was not a witch, she was just too good at what she did. What she did was sew. Witnesses say she appears as a sheet ghost with a needle and thread. She needs a friend who appreciates people with skills. |

2. Reverend Marsh the MenaceMarsh was a very strict witchfinder who carried his religion like a weapon. He appears as a sheet ghost carrying a blood red cross. He needs to learn from the example of a friend who respects individuality and freedom. |

3. Jack-Jaw JebediahJeb talked way too much. As in, he gossiped about his neighbors. When too many of them became victims of the witchfinders, they took revenge. If you see a shattered skull in the shadows, it could be him. Show ol' Jeb what it means to mind your own business, and eventually he might find rest. |

4. Betty the BlisterOk yeah -- Betty was a witch for real. She enjoyed the suffering of her enemies waaay too much. She appears as a fierce flash when you close your eyes. It will take someone special -- who does not quickly wish harm on others -- to show Betty to chill and find rest. |

5. Weird WinnifredPoor Winnifred. She was not a witch, but they branded her as one because she was different. Witnesses say she appears as an eerie floating head. Winnifred would find comfort if she haunted someone who befriends the friendless. |

6. Dry Socket DriscollDriscoll was one of the hundreds of witch-hunting pumpkins used by witchfinders in this area. His spirit can inhabit any rotten pumpkinshell. It's not certain what he needs in order to find rest -- perhaps just a peaceful home. |

7. Bloody BuckBuck was accused of witchcraft and cut down on his way to the well. Witnesses of this ghost say he appears as a severed hand holding a bucket of blood. Buck might finally know solace if he spends time around someone who esteems real justice. |

8. The Garden GatekeeperThis peculiar spirit has appeared by gate fences at night. We suspect it inhabited one of the pumpkins long ago. It never speaks, but it looks especially judgmental upon those who leave their trash on the ground. Perhaps it will find solace observing someone who does not litter. |

9. Deputy Terrence the TerrorDeputy Terrence was a witchfinder a long time ago, and was said to abuse his authority. Witnesses of this spirit say he flashes into sight as an angry star or badge, and then vanishes. He might finally lay to rest if he can learn from someone who is a fair, honest leader. |

10. Weeping AngieAngie's just sad, and you would be too. They called her and her whole family witches, and sent them to the gallows without even hearing her defense. Witnesses say she appears as a sheet ghost who moans and cries loudly. Angie might find rest if she believes there are still people with empathy. |

11. Nana Inez HaskillThere is no denying Nana Inez was a witch. Witnesses say she appears as a hideous hag. It's possible she may rest before the final judgment if she observes someone who can find beauty where others only see ugliness. |

12. Edgar the LunaticEdgar's not crazy, he just liked to have fun. But pranking the witchfinders was more dangerous than he expected, and look where he is now. When he appears, he is a brief flash of a laughing face. He could benefit from someone who knows that some things are just not funny. |

13. Bonebag BillBill might be the only person to have ever died from bad grammar. The witchfinders might not have attacked him if he hadn't claimed to "use bad spells." Bill might find peace if he can haunt a friend who likes to read a lot. |

14. Blind Reverend RogersRogers was not cruel until he lost his sight. Thereafter, he claimed to smell witchcraft on anyone he didn't like. The Reverend might find solace in his heart if he can learn the ways of someone who knows their own problems are not the fault of other people. |

15. Tara the TorchTara was a beautiful woman who was accused of spellbinding when she refused to marry a witchfinder. Eyewitnesses say you can sometimes see her face in a campfire. She might be able to lay to rest if she knows there are people in the world who understand no always means no. |

16. Carrie CoffeeCarrie wasn't a witch but the forest folk showed her how to brew the best coffee. Unfortunately she was caught talking to a pixie, and the witchfinders drowned her. Some say you can see her in steam rising from a cup. It'd do her some good to know not everyone judges you by your friends. |

17. Heartless HildaHilda definitely was a witch. We don't know much about her. They say her green face appears in vine-covered areas at night. If you adopt Hilda, just do your best. She won't bite. We're pretty sure. |

18. Lydia the InnocentLydia was just someone who liked a clean home. Unfortunately she was seen sweeping the porch after dark, and the witchfinders took her. If you adopt Lydia, she'll like knowing that it's okay to keep a clean house. |

19. The Curse of ArcadoThe Curse was another witch-hunting pumpkin. They say you can only see his glowing features on the darkest nights. It's not known why this spirit lingers. Maybe it just needs to know that life goes on with or without it. |

20. Soggy SallySally was thrown into a well for speaking another language, which her church thought was a magic hex. Witnesses of this spirit say she appears as a floating head with drenched wet hair. She might some day find rest if she finds a friend who knows that foreign languages are not evil. |

21. Candace the CandleCandace was a witch who enjoyed sneaking into others' homes with a candle and snooping about. She is sometimes seen as a violet phantom with a glowing candlestick. She could some day lay to rest if she can learn by example to respect other people's privacy. |

22. The Nameless OneGood luck with the Nameless One. We don't have good intel on this one. It appears as a silhouette with glowing eyes. If you see it, don't expect much conversation. Some things just can't be explained. |

23. Mother VeraMother Vera was the matron of a coven of witches, long ago. They say she appears as a radiant wisp. Do not attempt to engage with this one. It is supposed that maybe she will find rest in the aura of someone who is fully devoted to their family. |
The Pig Man is far too terrible to picture here. It is our hope that you shall never see him. |
24. Paul "Pig Man" PickmanThe Pig Man has become legend in parts of Georgia. It's possible there have been many. If you adopt this spirit, just remember -- it's fine if you eat bacon, but never treat animals more harshly than you must. |
